Although fictional, the work is based on real-life accounts from those actually involved with the Kindertransport. At the same time as Nazi anti-Semitism was on the rise, thousands of German and Austrian Jewish children were transported to foster families in England. However, the psychological impact of their move affected the children long into adulthood. Intertwining fact and fiction, past and present, Kindertransport delves into the life of one survivor. Hailed as a “moving, thought-provoking play,” (Variety), it was premiered in London in 1993.
